⎯⎯ Our Story ⎯⎯

From Cape Town,with love.

प्रसाद · prasāda

“a gracious gift; food offered with devotion”

Prashad Café was born from a simple belief: that food cooked with intention nourishes more than the body. Rooted in the sattvic philosophy of pure, plant-based living, our kitchen draws from the heritage of Punjab, Durban and the southern Indian coast.

Every spice is ground in-house. Every curry built from a base simmered for hours. Our paneer is house-made; our breads pulled from the tandoor; our dals slow-cooked the old way — patient, generous, unhurried.

What began as a single counter in Cape Town has grown to three locations — Wandel Street, Constantia and Rondebosch — each carrying the same warmth and intent.

⎯⎯ Sattvic by Intention

A plant-based kitchen, by tradition.

Sattvic eating means food that is fresh, seasonal, and prepared with care. It excludes meat, fish, eggs, and heavy stimulants — favouring clarity, lightness, and energy. Our entire menu is 100% vegetarian, with vegan options clearly marked across every section.

⎯⎯ Four Regions, One Table

A menu shaped by India's diversity.

  • Royal North India — Paneer, kormas, tandoori.
  • Durban Heritage — Butter bean, mixed-veg, soya curries.
  • Southern Coast — Chettinad, coconut, curry leaves.
  • Slow Dals & Saag — Patient lentils, spiced spinach.
